acne conditions will worsen and increase the chance of scarring, if left
untreated. Advanced acne therapy involves regular clinical acne treatments
and a home skin care regimen using topical medications that are appropriate
for your skin type. This combination will keep your skin clear and your acne
under control to prevent permanent scarring.
There are several treatments, depending on the
severity of the acne. The CosMedix "Purity
Peel" is a very effective acne treatment, as well as
Societe's Transition peel. If there is
scarring, the VI Peel and
Timeless Peel are excellent choices. Another popular and
effective acne treatment involves papaya enzyme, followed by glycolic acid to
penetrate the follicle. Oxygen-rich products such as
Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO) and clinical oxygen therapy are employed in most acne treatments to control
the bacteria which contribute to acne flare-ups.
|When the skin is
injured severely or repeatedly, it forms scar issue that may be thick, hard
and discolored, compared to normal skin tissue.
CosMedix' Purity Peel and
Timeless Peel are very effective in
reducing acne scarring, as well as the new VI Peel. The
also alleviates inflammation and discoloration from
acne scarring and sun damage.
|Several Peels and
Hydration therapies are used in our anti-aging regimens. The appropriate

- Seborrheic keratoses are flat, brownish spots and can be removed by
freezing or with a laser.
- Keratosis Pilaris is characterized by small, hard bumps clustered on
the skin, caused by clogging of hair follicles with skin cells. It typically
affects teens to young adults. It usually decrease or is less
noticeable with age.

LED Light Therapy
LED and Revitalight instruments use specific, single frequency light to combat acne, rosacea, sun-damaged
and aging skin.
The therapy is inexpensive and sometimes results are seen after the very first treatment.
As with all skin care treatments, results are
cumulative, so, for the best results, the LED Light treatment is done in a
series two to four weeks apart, and sometimes with a express treatment in-between. This is also
an excellent treatment to combine with your favorite peel to amplify the results.
LED Pulse Light Therapy should not be
confused with Intense Pulse Light (IPL). IPL is actually a laser instrument, and
carries the associated risks.
LED Light Therapy is a safe and
effective treatment for a variety of skin conditions — an exciting
advancement in skin care that has been available at Eastbay Acne & Skin Care
Clinic for over 8 years.
|Also known as
freckles or "age spots", lentigines are light gold to dark brown in color.
They are caused by genetic and environmental factors. Lentigines are treated

chemical peels, like the VI Peel and Pomegranate Peel,
and are also responsive to the LED Light Therapy, above.

|Melasma is a
mask-like skin discoloration which usually appears on the cheeks and
forehead. Also known as "the mask of pregnancy," it is usually
hormone-induced. Melasma is can be successfully treated with a series of
chemical peels and home care products.
||Exfoliation is an
important part of skin care. Without it, dead skin cells and oil clog pores and
lead to inflammation, poor skin health and appearance. EBAC offers three
methods of microdermabrasion to exfoliate skin:
· the traditional microdermabrasion method utilizes
aluminum oxide crystals,
· ultrasonic DermaSound uses ultrsonic frequencies to
gently exfoliate sensitive skin,
· Liquid Microdermabrasion uses crystals embedded in a
serum base that is manually applied for accurate
methods are the Liquid Microdermabrasion because it offers more precise pressure
control that is critical to good and even exfoliation. For sensitive skin and
rosacea clients, the DermaSound is preferred.
With the availability of these newer methods, the traditional microdermabrasion
is less desirable because of variations in crystal flow, and the lack of tactile
feedback that tells the esthetician how much pressure is being applied to the
Nutrition & Diet
|The foods we eat
and our general nutrition affect our skin's health. Certain foods stimulate
hormones, and the lack of certain essential vitamins and minerals influence
our skin's health and appearance.
We offer helpful diet and nutrition tips to keep your skin healthy, calm and
program that exfoliates, and stimulates the development of new, healthy
cells to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, reduce pore size, increase
elasticity, reduce hyperpigmentation and normalize oil production and skin
moisture. The Obagi program is conducted only under medical
supervision for safe and effective skin renewal.
EBAC does not
offer the Obagi Peel due
to the intense action of
the Obagi Peel on the skin, and the inherent risks associated with it. There
are several safer and less expensive alternatives available today, such as the
Timeless Peel and VI Peel that are just as,
if not more effective.

oxygen gas is used in conjunction with vitamins and minerals to nourish and
revitalize skin cells. Lynn Cowie, CE, the owner and founder of EBAC pioneered the Oxygen Therapy

a significant reduction in recovery time. This consists of seven to
ten consecutive days of treatments to achieve optimal healing. Oxygen

medical term for razor bumps is Pseudofolliculitis Barbae. This condition is
easily treated with a consistent, daily home care program. The elimination

characterized by many broken capillaries on the skin's surface, particularly
on the cheeks, that give the mild to extreme redness. Left untreated, the
skin may thicken over time accompanied by the development of scar tissue.
Clinical treatments are an important part of
Rosacea management. Oxygen therapy strengthens the vascular pathways,
thereby decreasing overall skin redness and capillary distention. Glycolic
treatments promote a softer, smoother complexion and inhibit skin
thickening, a common symptom of this skin disorder as it progresses.
LED Light Therapy has been shown to be
effective in closing down the superficial capillaries, and decreasing the
redness associated with rosacea. For best results, clinical treatments
should be performed on a monthly basis.
Rosacea also responds very quickly to a
topical home care program consisting of a Glycolic Acid Cleanser, a Basic
Cleanser, Glycolic Acid Facial Lotion, DermaSilk,
Aloe Cort Cream and a
topical antibiotic, if necessary, for acne breakouts. Internal vitamin
therapy is also recommended. These pharmaceutical-grade products must be
used as instructed.
