Throughout
her career in film, theater and television,
Jane Iredale worked with the best makeup artists in the field. She saw first
hand that true makeup artistry comes not from trying to make a face conform
to the latest fashion trends, but from enhancing the wearer's natural beauty
and, as a result, allowing their personality to shine.
Her experience in working with women whose
careers depended on a clear complexion has allowed her to see how skin
disorders and sensitivities not only threaten careers, but can also destroy
self-confidence. This is what led her to develop a makeup line that could
contribute to the lives of women by aiding the health of their skin.
Having recognized the need and importance
for a makeup that was good for the skin, Jane Iredale worked with
world-renowned plastic surgeons and dermatologists to develop her line of
Mineral Makeup. In 1994 her company was established ~ the first to
supply the aesthetics industry with a full-line of makeup based on minerals.
Jane Iredale's micronized mineral bases
are concentrated pigment.
This means that there are no fillers like talc to stretch pigment or
dyes. (Pigment is defined as inorganic color insoluble in water,) as opposed
to dyes which are organic (usually derived from petroleum) and soluble in
water. Because our bases are concentrated pigment, the coverage Jane Iredale
makeup can achieve is far superior to normal makeup with a minimum amount of
product. This is why mineral makeup always looks sheer and natural. This
concentrated pigment also gives Jane Iredale makeup such a high sunscreen
protection.
The most beautiful cosmetic
you can wear is healthy skin. That's why everything Jane Iredale develops is
a true extension of skin care. It's not just a refinement of conventional
makeup; it's a new technology. It's so effective it is recommended by
plastic surgeons, dermatologists and skin care professionals.

The Mineral Makeup products feature the
following qualities:
Four-in-One
- Our micronized mineral bases are four products in one: foundation,
powder, concealer and sunscreen, and will disguise almost any skin
discoloration.
SPF 17 Pressed
Bases & SPF 20 Loose Bases - Formulated with titanium dioxide and
zinc oxide, the minerals give instant, broad-spectrum, chemical-free sun
protection. They are also very water resistant.
Fast, Weightless
Coverage - No fillers like talc to dilute the effectiveness of
the pigment, one quick application of our minerals provides all-day coverage
that doesn't fade, crease or smear.
Non-comedogenic
and Oil-free - The skin is allowed to breathe and function
normally.
Minimum Allergy
Risk - No sensitizers, like perfume or chemical dyes and
preservatives are used in our bases, blush or eye shadows.
Coverage
- Because the minerals are concentrated pigment, they give complete
coverage and can be used effectively to camouflage large or small
distractions.
Adherence
- The minerals naturally adhere to the skin until they are removed
with any cleanser.
Anti-inflammatory
- Jane Iredale's mineral bases have anti-inflammatory properties
and are especially helpful for acne and rosacea-prone skins.
Inert -
The loose minerals are inert and cannot support bacteria.
Quality
- State-of-the-art cosmeceutical ingredients are used to ensure the
finest performance in coverage, application and texture. All vitamin and
antioxidant ingredients are pharmaceutical grade. These quality
ingredients give Jane Iredale's cosmetics their exceptional physical and
hypo-allergenic properties, unmatched by any other line of makeup.

Product Information & Tips
Pressed Powders
Pressed (SPF 17) and Loose (SPF 20)
are a concealer, foundation, powder and sunblock all in one.
- Apply to clean skin after moisturizer
has been absorbed;
- Use wet or dry;
- Do not use a foundation;
- Use one of our yellow bases to conceal
redness. You do not need a green concealer;
- Because the minerals reflect light, they
have a much wider color tolerance than most makeup. Our two most
frequently used colors - Amber and Natural - suit a wide variety of skin
tones;
- To find the right color, begin with a
touch of Amber or Natural on the jaw line. It will be easy to see whether
to go lighter or darker, pinker or more yellow.
Brushes
Our brushes have been designed to
be as effective and as gentle on the skin as possible. They are hand-tied
and made with the best materials available. No animals are killed to
make our brushes.
The Handi Brush is wonderful with pressed
powders, loose powders and blush. It's the go-everywhere,
do-everything brush. (Squirrel)
