Benzoyl Peroxide
BPO delivers powerful infection-fighting oxygen deep into the follicles. It's the active ingredient in the product you've seen on the infomercial for a product that sounds like "proactive": They offer 2.5% BPO which is fine for mild acne. But many people discover that it works initially, then the acne comes back with a vengeance, usually because you've acclimated the bacteria to the BPO — not good. We offer 2.5%, 5% and 10%. Our price per ounce is lower and it's more effective.
Note: upon initial use, Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO) can be mildly irritating to the skin. When you purchase a BPO product, home care instructions will be emailed to you to help get your skin acclimated to the BPO.
Also note that BPO has a drying effect on the skin. An oil-free moisturizer or hydrator, such as Cosmedix Mystic, our Ultra-Light Moisturizer or Aloe Cort Cream is recommended to alleviate dryness.
